ICT Service Assistant
West Wales Systems is an innovative and vibrant company providing telephone, broadband, Wi-Fi and CCTV solutions to businesses across Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire & Ceredigion. We work closely with our clients – who range from B&Bs and caravan parks to engineering firms and software companies – to implement cutting-edge technology solutions which really fit the bill and deliver over and above what’s expected of them. Our systems make our customers’ businesses better, and we’re on the lookout for good people to help us design and implement them on an ad-hoc basis. Our ICT Service Assistant role is a flexible and interesting position, perfect for somebody with an interest in business technology and delivering outstanding face-to-face customer service. This is a casual and ad-hoc role which means that there are no set hours – your workload will depend entirely on the needs of the business, but is open to negotiation. You will be offered work when it is available, but there is no obligation to accept it. There are always opportunities here for people who can work hard and prove themselves.
We’re ideally looking for someone with an understanding of the basic principles of computer networking, with a natural curiosity for knowing how IT products work, and a keen appetite to learn more.
The key elements of this role will include:
• Assisting our Installers to install telephone systems, CCTV systems, Wi-Fi access points etc
• Carrying out customer service visits to service equipment - sanitising phone handsets, for example
• Troubleshooting equipment and gathering information about faults for further escalation
• Some working at height (to install CCTV cameras or Wi-Fi points, for example)
• Other ad-hoc duties as required by our clients
As you can see, there are a broad range of responsibilities and this list is by no means exhaustive! We don’t expect you to know how to do all of this from the word ‘go’ and full training will be provided for the right candidate – however we would like all applicants to have a good working knowledge of computers, at least a basic understanding of computer networks and an outstanding and positive approach to customer service. A full driving licence and clean criminal record is required in order to be accepted as an applicant.
This is a casual/ad-hoc position and we are unable to offer guaranteed hours at this time. However, this role will give an excellent opportunity to somebody who wishes to expand their knowledge and experience in our field of expertise and, if you are willing to assist with sales & marketing activity, there will be further opportunities to develop your role into something more permanent if you wish. There will be a set hourly rate for work carried out. Our rate of pay is negotiable depending on your experience and competence.

We're interested in hearing from people with either a Sales & Marketing or Technical background. We require our Sales & Marketing people to have B2B sales experience, ideally technical in nature and to have a good understanding of the solutions we sell. Our Technical people should have a working knowledge of either VoIP, WiFi or IP CCTV systems - ideally all 3.
